creating and viewing blog posts

Most of you seem to be up-to-speed with blog posting (for your group project) versus blog viewing. However, I want to make sure everyone understands this clearly. Towards that end I've changed the sidebar a bit, as well as provide some extra explanation in this post.

The basic idea is that you'll be creating posts for your group's blog using Blogger.com. Once you've published a new post, however, everyone will view that post at our course website. So think of Blogger simply as free, and good, web-based software for creating blog posts. On the other hand, our course website is where people will view and interact (via commenting) with your blog posts.

Finding each of the 5 group blogs is easy enough. Go to the Blog tab, then select one of the five options in the subpage area (just below the banner image).

To make all of this even a bit easier and clearer I've added two new sections to the sidebar (to the right). Notice that you now see a section labeled "Blog Post Creation" that only contains one link (to Blogger.com). Just below that is another new section labeled "Blog Projects Viewing" that takes you directly to each of the five group blogs. These sidebar links are redundant (as they do the same thing as the subpage links in the image above). Nonetheless they probably make it even easier for people to directly view the various group blogs.

Notice that beside each of the group blogs, in gray lettering, I've written "draft stage." At some point in the next month each group blog will go active with real posts that they want everyone to view, read, and interact with. When a group blog becomes active, I'll change the wording from "draft stage" to "active" using red font coloring.

Finally, I've activated the email links for each of the blog groups. You'll see these group email links just under the individual emails in the sidebar area. So if you click on the regulation group link (for example) a new message will be created in your default email software that is automatically addressed to everyone in that group.
